This charcoal-free formulation contains optimized electrolytes and pH buffers (7.2-7.4) to maintain pathogen viability for 48-72 hours at ambient temperature. Prepared by dissolving 13.25g/L in purified water followed by 121°C sterilization for 15 minutes. The absence of charcoal prevents toxin absorption while semi-solid agar consistency minimizes oxygen exposure, doubling Neisseria gonorrhoeae survival rates compared to charcoal-based alternatives. Gentle post-sterilization homogenization ensures uniform distribution without air bubble formation. Validated for 30-day pre-use storage at 4-25°C with ≤0.3 pH unit drift.

Ideal for nasopharyngeal, wound, and genital swab preservation, supporting fastidious organisms including Streptococcus pyogenes and Haemophilus species. The inert formula prevents cellular desiccation and maintains osmotic balance, yielding 95%+ viability recovery after 24-hour transit. Compatible with cotton, polyester, and rayon swabs without inhibitor release. Available in bulk dehydrated powder format with OEM customization options for volume (50g-25kg containers), viscosity adjustment (±15% agar), and specialized packaging.
